Teachers and children
I traveled sometimes back and at my return a parent in church told me welcome
back. My kids miss you; they kept counting the Sundays you were away from
church. It felt good to know that amongst little children my impact is felt.
Last
Sunday after service a woman met me and was appreciating me. She said her kids
are fond of me. She asked how I cope with the kids and their demands, I just
couldn’t explain it.
Sincerely
having to teach the bible, Christian practices, instil moral and discipline is
no joke. I have come to the realisation that the help from God is the strength
teachers need. Children are very smart, inquisitive and highly intelligent.
Everything you say to them as a teacher makes them or breaks them.
This
morning I forced my girl to poop but she did not. I wanted her to because I do
not want her giving her teacher extra work. I understand poop is not what
people like to get involved in especially when it is not your child. As much as
possible I try to make her poop before leaving home.
After
the school bus left I placed a call to her teacher informing her that my girl
did not eat before leaving home and she also did not poop. “Kindly check on her
please.” The parent by my side said “Madam, I am not sure I can be a teacher,
the work is too much. One needs to be called to function properly.”
This
and many more teachers do to make us better people, this and many more they do
to make us feel at ease when we are at work. They are part of the primary
individuals who nurture our kids, when a child dose well at school the glory
goes to the parent but sincerely there is a need to applaud the teachers too.
If
not for my teachers where would I have been today? Teachers should be
celebrated all year round. Teachers salaries should be increased to motivate
them. Their reward is not in heaven, their reward is right here on earth, with
us as parents and guidance.
